[Class 39 (i)] In apparatus such as mercury-vapour rectifiers the cathode spot is formed on gallium, while the vapour is supplied by mercury or an amalgam thereof. The gallium and the mercury may be contained in separate vessels communicating by a narrow passage, the temperature of the mercury container being regulated.
