[Class 80 (ii)] [See also Group XXXV] A clutch, such as between a pulley 16, Fig. 1, driven from the axle of a railway vehicle and the armature shaft 12 of a lighting dynamo, which drives and allows overrunning in both directions of rotation, comprises wedging balls or rollers 14 engaging between the interior cylindrical surface of a member 13 secured to the shaft 12 and the polygonal exterior surface of the pulley hub 17, the rollers being mounted in a cage 18 which is braked by an adjustably-loaded plate 24 slidably keyed on a fixed spindle 19. Overrunning of the shaft 12 may be slightly restrained by means of a spring-loaded plate 27 mounted on the shaft 12 and bearing against the pulley 16. Alternatively, the rollers may engage between a cylindrical exterior surface of the driven part and double-cam recesses in an interior surface of the driving part. In a modification, two sets of single-acting rollers 30 and 34, Fig. 4, mounted in a common cage 38 are employed.
