Abstract

437,316. Wireless receiving-apparatus. SOWERBY, A. L. M., 85, Westbourne Grove, and COSSOR, Ltd., A. C., Highbury Grove, both in London. July 23, 1934, No. 21530. [Class 40 (v)] In a wireless receiver adapted to be used with an electric pick-up, the detector is coupled to the low frequency amplifier system through a fixed potentiometer which reduces the output to a strength equivalent to that of the signals derived from the pick-up. Figure 1 shows resistances R1, R2 arranged as a fixed potentiometer between the detector D and low frequency amplifier V. A condenser C3 is preferably provided to prevent loss of higher frequencies due to the self capacity C4 and may be increased in size to give compensation for any loss of high notes arising in other parts of the receiver. Volume is controlled by potentiometer R3, R4 for both radio and the pick-up which is connected to terminals PU. In a modification, Fig. 2, the volume control forms part of the detector load and a fixed grid leak R5 is used the fixed potentiometer being formed by resistances R1, R3.
