[Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] Uniform amplification throughout a wide frequency range is obtained by providing an amplifier for television and like purposes with an output circuit in which the coupling resistance R is connected in series with an inductance L as in a known arrangement, Fig. 2 (not shown), and in addition a condenser C is shunted upon the resistance R, Fig. 3, or part of it, or upon the inductance L, Fig. 4 (not shown), or part of it, the impedance elements being dimensioned in accordance with a formula. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the condenser C may be replaced by a condenser and inductance in series ; in this way the effect of the internal capacity Ca of the valve is more accurately compensated. The circuit is so designed that phase-distortion is not introduced. The amplifier may be connected to a further valve through the coupling condenser Cg and grid leak Rg.
