Abstract

241,618. Willans, P. W. July 21, 1924. Thermionic amplifiers and detectors. - The reaction coupling, say between the plate coil 2 and the grid coil 1 of a valve receiver, is maintained fixed at such a value that the set would normally oscillate. A variable damping resistance 3, having a maximum value of 100,000 ohms, is then shunted across one or other of the coils and provides a means of adjusting the degree of back-coupling to the optimum value. The resistance 3 may be inserted across a third coil coupled to either of the coils 1, 2.
