Abstract

436,556. Machine guns. BRUCAR, L., 53, Rue Guza Voda, Bucharest. July 16, 1934, No. 20766. Convention date, Feb. 16. [Classes 9 (i) and 92 (ii)] The continuous operation of a multi-bore fixed-barrel machine gun wherein all the bores are discharged simultaneously, is effected partly by the action of the tapped explosion gases on a piston in a central cylinder, and partly by blow-back action on the breech-block. As shown, the barrel A is formed with six bores B around a central passage C constituting the operating- cylinder, and with lugs DR for attachment to a coupling-block K. The breech-casing RZ screws into the block K and the cartridges are fed in groups of six by mechanism G comprising a pinion N co-operating with a feed-rack on the cartridge-belt LM. The pinion N is actuated by a bevel-gear L on a spindle I, which carries a quadrant J arranged to co-operate with a rack GL on the breech-block O. The latter is guided in its movements along the sleeve RZ by balls T which are moved out of grooves in the sleeve to lock the breech-block in the firing position (Fig. 14). This locking movement of the balls is effected by the firing-member P which is moved from the cocked position to that shown in Fig. 14 by a spring S. The member P is fitted with six firing-pins and carries a spring-seated pin R which picks up the charge from an arm H on the spindle I during the forward movement of the breech-block under the reaction of a spring V. On the escape of gases into the cylinder C, the impact of the piston Z on the pin R causes the member P to recede within the breech-block thus freeing the balls T to permit the rearward travel of the block. To operate the gun, the breech-block is manually withdrawn and held by a trigger on the release of which the spring V reacts to start the continuous actuation.
