Abstract

436,117. Cooling valves. CROSS, R. C., 33, Midford Road, Odd Down, Bath, Somerset. Jan. 16, 1935, No. 1479. [Class 135] In a rotary cylindrical valve for internalcombustion engines, coolant is continuously circulated through a hollow-walled fixed bearing liner 2 by means of passages 9, 11 extending through the valve housing 1. The coolant passes out of the liner chamber 8 through passages 14 into the cylinder jacket 13. The passage 11 is formed in a conduit passing through a cooling space 12 in the housing 1. The liner 2 may be part cylindrical, such as semi-cylindrical, and may be coated with white metal, lead bronze, or like metal. It may have springy sealing-lips such as are described in Specification 373,660.
