Abstract
492,383. Pistons. GRAHAM, E. B. March 20, 1937, No. 8286. [Class 122 (i)] In a one-piece piston having a chamber 4 for cooling medium formed by a diaphragm 6, the diaphragm is integral with the bosses and of concave formation to provide clearance for the connecting-rod, an aperture 7 being provided for introduction of the medium. The cooling medium is liquid ai operating temperatures and may be sodium, a fusible metal alloy, or an organic compound such as diphenyl. The side walls of the ring grooves 9 are inclined to the piston axis.
