Abstract
435,979. Making foam. KOMET KOMPAGNIE FUR OPTIK, MECHANIK, UND ELECTRO - TECHNIK GES., 19, Guerickestrasse, Charlottenburg, Berlin. April 15, 1935, No. 11608. Convention date, April 14,1934. [Class 47 (ii)] In the preparation of air foam, the foaming liquid and air are drawn into and forced through a mixing chamber by a steam injector. Water and foaming-agent-supply pipes 3, 8 open into the suction chamber 4 of the steam-jet 2. The mixed liquids, preferably broken up by a baffle 11 or other sprayer, are forced into a mixing chamber 5, where they meet air drawn in through openings 6 regulatable by a valve 7. The foam is discharged by the pipes 12, 13. In a modification, the chamber 5 has thickened walls with inclined perforations through which the air is drawn. In another modification, the chamber 4 terminates in several mutually-inclined nozzles, and a separate steam-jet injector is provided for the air supply. Dry foaming agent may be drawn in with the air. Preferably, a steam generator is combined with the foam generator, as shown. Steam is generated in the coil 15 by a burner 16, the hot gases from which heat the foaming agent in the tank 9 and may also heat the water supply. The latter comprises a closed vessel 21 connected to a suction or pressure pipe 20 and adapted to supply the pipe 3, and also the coil 15 by way of the pipe 25 and steam-jet injector 22.
