[Class 69 (ii)] [See also Group XXXIII] A hydraulic transmission, particularly for marine propulsion, comprises a hydraulic gear 3, 4, the driven shaft 7 of which carries the primary member 8 of a reversing hydraulic gear, having guide vanes 9 mounted on its casing 12 and a secondary member 10 connected to the final driven shaft 22. When the shaft 22 is to be driven forward, the end portion 7<1> of the shaft 7 is clutched to a member 19, 20 connected to the shaft 22, and the casing 12 is freed for rotation; reverse drive is obtained by applying a brake 28 to the casing 12, and disengaging the shaft 7 from the shaft 22.
