Abstract
434,958. Aircraft carriers. THORNYCROFT & CO., Ltd., J. I., and THORNYCROFT, SIR J. E., Smith Square, Westminster. March 12, 1934, No. 7777. [Classes 113 (ii) and 115] An aircraft carrier is provided at the stern with the usual apron 5 for landing the craft. From the apron the craft are transported by the laterally mounted crane 16 to the tables 2a, 2<b> the levels of which may be relatively adjusted by means of screw gears. A transporting trolley is then brought under the craft and it is conveyed forward along deck rails either to the forward catapult 13 or is stored in the centrally disposed hangars 12. The tops of the lifts serve to close the entrance to the hangars and the main rails 14 are provided with lateral storage rails connected to the main rails by a turn table 20.
