Abstract

600,392. Sheathing boats. BRISTOL AEROPLANE CO., Ltd., and COOPER, F. Nov. 29, 1945, No. 32317. [Class 113 (ii)] The hull of a motor-boat comprises diagonal plankings 13 and 14 attached to wooden stringers 12 by means of bolts 15, these stringers being supported by longitudinal and transverse frame members 10 and 11. Thin metal sheets 16 of aluminium or aluminium alloy are attached to the planks by bolts 15 and 17 as shown in Figs. 3, 10 and 11 respectively. The bolts have conical underheads which fit into conical indentations in the holes to form a flush outer surface for the hull, and adjacent sheets 16 are butt-jointed together as at 21.
