Abstract

530,307. Bulkheads. PAINE, H. SCOTT-, and SELMAN, G. S. March 9, 1939, No. 7703. [Class 113 (ii)] A bulkhead for high-speed motor boats and like vessels comprises a plywood covering 23 secured on pillars 18 and bracing members 20 secured to a transverse frame 10. The lower part of the bulkhead may be of solid timber 13. The bracing members 20 may be aligned with stringers 21 and some of the pillars 18 may be aligned with longitudinal frame members 17. The latter are connected to the bulkhead by brackets 32 secured outside the plywood covering. To effect ventilation the pillars and cross-members may have grooves 27, 30, leading to small holes 31 in the upper part of one of the plywood coverings. The brackets 26 reinforcing the joints between the members of the transverse frame are secured outside the plywood covering.
