Abstract

1,008,928. Nesting pallets for handling loads. R. J. GREAVES. Aug. 5, 1964 [Aug. 8, 1963], No. 31835/64. Heading B8H. A two-way entry nesting pallet comprises a tray 7 cut from wire mesh and formed with three V-shaped folds 8 as strengthening ribs with reinforcing channels 17 welded thereto. A steel rod frame 9 is welded to the periphery of the tray 7, parts 9A serving as elements of a pair of support frames 11 extending along opposite edges of the tray 7. Each support frame 11 is in the form of a truss having an upper chord constituted by the parts 9A and the horizontal legs of members 13, 14, and a bottom chord provided by a member 12 and bracing members formed by the sloping legs of the members 13, 14. Members 12, 13, 4 are welded to the frame 9 and are offset to allow nesting. The frame 9 projects above the tray 7 and may retain an insert of plywood (not shown). Sheet-steel platform members 21 (Fig. 6) may be welded to the tray 7 while the wings may be reinforced by lower chord members 22 welded to a turned over edge. Instead of a fabric of steel wire, sheet-steel, expanded metal, woven wire, fibreglass, laminated timber or any other suitable continuous fabric may be used.
