Abstract

1,255,798. Pallets. CEGEDUR GP. 13 Dec., 1968 [15 Dec., 1967; 15 Nov., 1968], No. 59414/68. Heading B8H. A pallet comprises side members 1, 2 with flanges 12, 13 and 22, 23 at the upper end to receive opposed sides of a deck 4 and a slideway 11, 21 at the lower end to receive the reinforced edges 31, 32 of a lower platform 3. The assembly is held together by one or more tie rods 5 passing between the flanges 12, 13, 22, 23. The deck may be corrugated, ribs or plain and has the sides chamfered whereby by applying extra tension to the tie rod or rods the deck may be pre-stressed prior to loading (Fig. 7, not shown). An intermediate support (7), Fig. 6 (not shown), may be provided with upper flanges (721), (731) and (722), (732) to receive the deck portions (43), (44) and a lower flange (71) to rest on. the lower platform (3). The lower platform may be a plurality of strips or one-piece. Extra slideways (14), Fig. 5 (not shown), may be provided adjacent the upper flanges (13), (23) to receive a sling (6).
