PORTABLE TABLE PLATFORM" Application filed November 2, 1926. The primary object of my invention is to provide a table platform of the character described, which is light in weight, strong and rigid in construction and amply reinforced to withstand the strains, shocks and stresses to which platforms of this type are subjected under conditions of actual use. 1
Many objects and advantages in details of construction and operation will be apparent as the description proceeds, reference being red to the accompanying drawing, wherein like reference numerals indicate like parts.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved table platform assembled.
Figure 2 is a detail end view of the lower portion of the table.
Figure 3 is a detail of the platform frame. I provide a frame work comprising the legs 1, preferably of angle iron and having a portion of their lower ends turned inwardly as at 2 to provide suitable feet for the legs. Carried by the upper ends of the legs 1, is a frame 8 consisting preferably of a single piece of angle iron bent at right angles to form the corners and secured together at its free ends in any suitable .manner as by welding. This frame 3 is provided with the vertical flange 4: and the lower inwardly extending horizontal flange 5. The upper ends of the legs 1 are reinforced at their connection with the vertical flanges 4 of theframe 3 as by means of the angle brackets 6 suitably riveted or bolted to the legs 1 andsuch flanges 4. There is also provided on each side of the frame 3 suitable pockets 7 bolted orriveted to the vertical flanges 4 of the frame. These pockets are adapted to re ceive the upright posts 8 extending above the frame whereby a load may be piled high upon the platform.
. Floor boards 9 are supported at their ends on the horizontal flanges 5 of the frame 3 and.
are secured to such flanges in any suitable manner such" as by flat headed countersunk bolts 10., y y E Extending across'between the legs 1- on two sides of the frame work are gussets 11 comprising angle bars of iron, steel or other suitable material, provided with a vertical flange and an inwardly extending horizontal flange as clearly shown in Figure 1. Suitable reinforcing brackets 12 are provided at the connections between these gussets 11, and the legs 1, whereby such connections are reinforced. r
Extending between the angle bars or gussets 11 on either side of the frame work, are the angle bars 13 comprising the upper inwardly extending horizontal flanges 14 and the downwardly depending vertical flanges 15, forming a combined reinforcement to the platform frame and a guide for the common lifttruck used for lifting and transporting platforms of this character. It will be un derstood that such lift truck may be inserted beneath the platform table guide by the vertical flanges 15 of the angle bars 13 and that the platform may be lifted by the upward loads, which may be readily lifted and transported, either loaded or empty, by the usual lift truck for such purposes.
Of. course, many changes in details of construction and arrangement of parts maybe made without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention. I do not limit myself therefore to the exact construction shown and described other than by the appended claims. V v
I claim 1. A platform comprising supporting legs consisting of angle bars provided with inwardly turned ends forming feet, a frame secured to the upper ends of said legs including an angle bar bent to form the corners and q havinga vertical flange and a lower inwardly 1 extending horizontal flange, floor members supported by said horizontal flange, said floor members being substantially flush with the top of said-Vertical flange, braces comprising angle bars extending between certain of said legs, and angle bars connecting said braces and forming means whereby said platform may be lifted. v p 2.
