Abstract
405,615. Hydroplane vessels. PARKER, R. D., Fernbank, Holywood, Co. Down, Northern Ireland. Aug. 3, 1932, No. 21718. [Class 113 (ii).] Hydroplane vessels with stepped bottoms have hydrofoils 3 which may be supported by struts 2 located abaft the centre of gravity. When the craft is under way the stem is raised and the weight is mainly carried by the part of the hull in front of the step. The position of the hydrofoils may be adjusted longitudinally. For controlling the lift of the hydrofoils, hinged ailerons may be provided at their trailing- edges. In one form the aileron 6 is automatically controlled by the hinged trailing flap 8, Fig. 7.
