[Class 38 (iv)] [See also Groups XI and XL] In a daylight lamp comprising a positivecolumn metal-vapour discharge lamp emitting light with a preponderance of green and blue, a positive-column neon discharge lamp emitting light with a preponderance of orange and red and an incandescent source emitting a large proportion of yellow light, the discharge lamps operate in parallel at mains voltage and the incandescent source is partly or wholly constituted by the ballasts of the discharge lamps. Long incandescent filaments with tappings may operate partly as ballasts and partly in parallel to the discharge lamps. Circuits for D.C. and A.C. operation are described, the watts consumed in the three sources being respectively 300, 150 and 210 or 300.
