431,685. Protecting boxes &c. against unauthorized opening. CLIFF, H., Lyndhurst, Hill Top, and CLIFF, C., Arlington Road, both in West Bromwich. Jan. 5, 1934, No. 419. [Class 18] [See also Group XXV] The lid, movable side or other movable member of a box, case, &c., for mineral water and other bottles and the like is secured by a fastener 17, 22 the actuating member of which is housed within the container, and is protected against unauthorized actuation by a seal 26 of stout paper &c., or a label which closes or partly closes an opening 16 through which access is normally had to the fastening. The seal is housed between a metal plate 24 perforated at 25 and the wall of the container and a metal bridge piece 21 limits the movement of a resilient strip 18 which supports the U-shaped fastening 17. A cut-out 30 facilitates removal of the seal. Slats 13 on the lid embrace battens 14 on the back so that the lid may move about the line of contact of the battens 13, 14. The parts 22, 24 may be integral with one another, and the plate 24 may be mounted on the upper surface of the lid. In a further modification the circular opening 16 shown is replaced by a cut-out in the edge, the metal plate 24 then embracing the edge of the lid &c.
