541,225. Boxes or cartons. FERGUSON, W. HAIG-, and FERGUSON, C. HAIG-. Sept. 26, 1940, No. 14585. [Class 18] The lid or closure of a box or carton has a server or scoop formed thereon so that it can be readily detached for use when the box is opened, a portion of the perimeter of the server or scoop 1 being cut through to form a hinged flap which, in the case of a display box, Fig. 6, forms a cover for the display opening e furnished with a covering of transparent paper and, in the case of an ordinary box or carton, Fig. 1, forms a fastening element 3 adapted to engage a slot c in the adjacent side wall d of the box to secure the lid or closure a in position. As shown the scoop 1 is embossed in relief on the box or carton and may have strengthening ribs 2, the outline of the scoop, except for the cut portion, being perforated, scored, or weakened so that it can be readily detached.
