438,835. Boxes. CHAD VALLEY CO., Ltd., Chad Valley Works, Harborne, and WHITEHOUSE, F. R. B., Fairdays, Barlows Road, Edgbaston, both in Birmingham. Jan. 3, 1935, No. 189. [Class 18] A box of cardboard &c. has, in one side, an opening 7 closable by the lid 19 of the box and also by a slide or slides 12 which are independent of the lid and which move beneath the side provided with the opening ; and outward movement of the slides is limited by stops thereon. The opening 7 is provided in the top 6 of an inverted U-shaped member 8 stitched or glued, &c. inside the box, and the slides 12 move in the space formed between the top 6 and a sheet 9 attached to but spaced from the underside of the top 6 by distance pieces 11. The means limiting outward movement of the slides comprises co-operating lugs 17, 18 on the slides and the pieces 11 respectively. An aperture 10 registering with the aperture 7 is provided in the sheet 9, and both apertures and the corresponding part of the slides may be formed or decorated to represent an article. The slides which may be positioned one above the other are pulled out by tabs 15 scored at 16 to allow them to be folded down when the cover is put on. A piece of transparent material, e.g celluloid, may be placed between the slides and the top 6, or the box can be wrapped in a strip of such material. The cover is provided with fastening tapes 20 secured by seals 21, but until the box has been opened the tapes are secured inside the lid.
