Abstract
511,435. Dispensing-containers; sliding lids, DAVIN, G. Feb. 16, 1938, No. 4847. [Class 18] A box with a sliding lid for powder, tablets, pellets, cigarettes &c. has the side edges of the lid 12 provided with downturned C-shaped flanges 13 received between the side walls 10a of the box and slidably engaging inwardly projecting bendings 11 thereon whereby to enhance appearance the lid need not be made wider than the box. The beading may be continued all round the box rim in which case cut-outs 14 are provided in one end wall to clear the flanges 13 on the lid. The closing movement of the lid is limited by a depending wall 16 on the lid and the opening movement by a downward depression 15. An upwardly projecting rib 17 is provided for engagement by the finger &c. to open the lid. In the modification shown in Fig. 5 the flanges 13 extend only partly along the side edges of the lid and cocact with the end wall 10b of the box to limit the opening movement of the lid; an opening 19 for dispensing the contents of the box when the lid is slid back is provided in a plate 18 supported by downturned end walls 18a secured by indents 20 in the box walls.
