[Class 135] [See also Group XVII] A vented tap for withdrawing fluid from a sealed metal container has a valve member 17 mounted within a body 10 and rotated by a handle 20. It is held in place by a setscrew 18 and has a packing 22. A vent hole 16 is obturated by a ball 26 seated in a cam groove 25 when the valve is closed, but permits air to enter when the valve is open, the vent air passing along a channel 24. If the container itself has a vent the vent hole 16 is closed by rotating the valve body 17 a little farther and thus forcing the ball 26 into contact with the vent opening.
