Abstract

424,363. Road vehicles. JOHNSTON, J. T. M., 35, Crutched Friars, London. Nov. 13, 1933, No. 31613. [Class 108 (ii)] In apparatus for making and repairing road surfaces in which a tar &c. container is mounted on a vehicle chassis a vertically extensible bearer is interposed between the container and a road wheel to obviate spilling of the tar &c. when the vehicle is on a gradient. The frame 10 is provided with a casing 15 adapted to slide on the head 16 of the steering front wheels 12 so as to adjust the level of the tar boiler 13 mounted on the frame 10. A lever 21 pivoted at 22 in a bracket 23 on the frame is provided with a forked part having rollers 19 adapted to engage a runway 18 in the head 16. The other end of the lever is connected by a cable 26 to a winch 28 operated through worm gearing 29 by a handle 30. The lever 21 may be locked in its adjusted position by means of a pin 25, engaging registering apertures in the lever and a member 24.
