Steering-In a motor vehicle of the kind having endles tracks and road wheels for alternative use (1) the. front idle pulleys C of the endless tracks B are swivelled for steering by means of the ordinary steering handwheel E used to swivel the steering road-wheels D, and (2) the front road wheels are steered bv mechanism independent of the up and down movement of the wheels relatively to the chassis frame. The steering-wheel E may be connected by means of a sliding hand-controlled. clutch G<2> either to the gear E<1> swivelling the endless-track pulleys or to a gear F<1> swivelling the road wheels D. In the construction shown the. vehicle is converted from a wheeled vehicle to an endless-track vehicle, or vice-versa, by movement of the road-wheel axles about a shaft fixed on the chassis frame A, as described in Specification 265,670, [Class 79 (ii), Motor vehicles, Driving &c.], and the steering road-wheels D are operated from the gear F<1> through an arm F<3>, link F, two-armed lever H<1> pivoted on the shaft H, link H<2>, bell-crank lever H<3> pivoted on the front axle D<1>, and link H<4>. With this arrangement the up-and-down movement of the front axle does not necessitate disengagement of the steering connections. In a modification the axle D<1> moves vertically and, to allow for this movement, the bell-crank lever 11<3> has one arm sliding vertically on a square shaft.
