Controlling different functions by same handle or lever; control gear for driving in either direction; locking apparatus for steering-gear. - A motor vehicle adapted for driving with equal facility in either direction has two steering axles with separate steering gear for each, the steering being always effected by the axle which is for the time being the front axle, the rear steering gear being locked by a lever which also controls the reversing gear and so determines the direction of travel. The steering axles 8, 8<1> are respectively controlled by steering hand wheels 1, 1<1> acting through gear 3, 3<1> and three-armed levers 4, 4<1>. These levers carry wedge-shaped members 5, 5<1> which can be engaged and locked by sliding blocks 10, 10<1> controlled by hand levers 13, 14 on a shaft 15. Thus one of the steering gears is always locked and the other free, according to the position of the hand levers 13, the lever 13 also controlling the reversing gear wheels 17 so that the direction of travel of the vehicle corresponds to whichever steering gear is in action.
