Abstract

434,659. Jacking-fitments on vehicles. UTZ, H., 7, Theresienh÷he, Munich, Germany. March 3, 1934, No. 6871. [Class 79 (iii)] Mounting or attaching means for lifting-jacks are provided in the floor of a vehicle so that one or more jacks may be fitted into position and operated from within the vehicle to raise one or more wheels off the ground. When the doors of the vehicle are locked, the arrangement may be utilized to prevent theft. The attachment means may comprise a sleeve 4 located in an opening in the floor and carried by a plate 4<1> attached to a chassis frame member 4<11>. The jack casing is provided with a lug 5 which passes down a slot in the sleeve and is then rotated to form in effect a bayonet catch, the jack, which may be of the hydraulic type operated by a hand lever 2, being prevented from passing right through the sleeve by the enlarged head 1 thereof. The jacks may be provided with detachable feet enabling a large foot 10 to be used on soft ground or rollers 7 for turning purposes. In such cases, the foot may be attached, e.g. by screwing, from below after the body of the jack has been inserted in the sleeve.
