Abstract
763,050. Vehicles with transferable bodies. HILL, G. R. Nov. 19, 1953 [Oct. 30, 1952], No. 27296/52. Class 78 (4). A removable body 6 rests on a platform 4 which may be raised by jacks 5 from the chassis of a vehicle and the body may be supported by telescopic or folding legs 9 from the ground so that the vehicle may be withdrawn from beneath it when the platform 4 has been lowered. In an alternative construction the body may be raised from the chassis by a pair of longitudinal rails which when lowered, are housed in grooves in a platform on the chassis. In both constructions the platform of the vehicle may be used for carrying a load when the body 6 is removed. The body 6 may have drop-down sides and the legs 9 may carry ground wheels. The jacks 5 may be powered from tipping mechanism on the vehicle or from a hand pump.
