Abstract

421,296. Admission pipes. WESTWOOD, F., Calthorpe House, Ilfracombe, Devon. Aug. 26, 1933, No. 23788. [Class 7 (ii)] A device for steadying the flow of mixture, which is clamped by a plate a with an aperture b in line with the induction passage, comprises a closed chamber d arranged symmetrically to the aperture b and connected thereto by a passage g having an inclined plate h or other means for mixing the fuel and air. The entrance to the passage g, the size of which may be adjusted by a slotted ring rotatable in the aperture b, is rectangular, or rhombic, in section and extends over about half the circumference of the aperture b. The plate h is adjustable ; it may be replaced by, or associated with, a spring m, or a rotating fan. An extra-air admission device comprises a tube which is extracted against a spring k to expose one or more holes x. A cock t is arranged to admit fuel, lubricant or water. The chamber may be heated to facilitate starting and a window l is provided.
