Abstract

419,464. Force - feed lubricating. WHITELEGG, R. H., Marlborough, River Road, Taplow, Buckinghamshire. June 20, 1933, No. 17602. [Class 12 (iii).] A railway axlebox is lubricated by grease forced from a cylinder c by a piston p under the action of a spring s. The piston p has a rod r extending outside the axle-box keep j to indicate the amount of grease inside the cylinder C. The cylinder has an inlet nipple h for charging it from a grease gun, is formed as a bearing pad with holes d and grooves e, and is pressed against the axle journal by a spring t. The cylinder c may be arranged horizontally and the grease nipple h may be omitted, the piston rod r in this case having an axial hole and attached charging nipple.
