Abstract
361,635. Lubricating axle bearings. NEMETZ, G., 34, Marxergasse, Vienna. Dec. 3, 1930, No. 36484. [Classes 12 (ii) and 12 (iii).] In a railway-vehicle axle-box, a disc 1 rotated by a pin 2 from the axle 3 is arranged in a pocket 4 in the cover 6 which is restricted at its upper part to form a slot 16 of sufficient width for the passage of the disc so as to provide, at the ends of the slot, chambers 5, 5<1> in one or other of which, according to the direction of rotation, oil carried up by the disc accumulates under pressure and is supplied through passages 13, 8, 9 to a groove 12 on that side of the bearing which the journal is approaching. From the groove 12 a passage 15 leads to the corresponding groove 12<1> on the other side of the bearing. The grooves 12, 12<1> have restricted portions 14 extending to the front end of the bearing.
