412,333. Lubricating vehicle - axle bearings. MATTHEWS, E. F., Elm Cottage, Watford Road, Wembley, Middlesex. Feb. 8, 1933, No. 3848. [Class 12 (ii).] In a vehicle-axle bearing, lubricant in the form of a wedge between the axle 1 and bearing block 2 is dammed by a member 9 yieldingly held against the axle. As shown, the member 9 is a bar arranged in a longitudinal recess 8 in the brass 2 and pressed against the axle by leaf springs 10. In a modification, the member consists of a sheet-metal member 14 hinged at 13 and pressed against the axle by springs 16.
