431,817. Vehicle - axle bearings. PEYINGHAUS, W., (trading as EISENUND STAHLWERK W. PEYINGHAUS), Egge, near Volmarstein, Germany. Aug. 14, 1934, No. 23484. Convention date, Aug. 14, 1933. [Classes 12 (i) and 12 (iii)] A vehicle axle-box has the following features, known per se, in combination, viz. a lubricating pad 3, a leakage-preventing oil-thrower ring 5, a dust packing 7 bearing against the axle journal 6 and both housing faces 8, 9, and a shock-absorbing rib 4 to prevent jumping of the axle journal. In addition the axlebox at the cover end may be raised at 13, in known manner, above the oil level in the sump 16, and may have at the sides and top wide abutment faces for engagement with the brass 2. As shown, the shock-absorbing rib 4 has a copper strip 11 which engages the journal collar 15.
