Abstract
345,073. Lubricating axle bearings. MATTHEWS, E. F., Elm Cottage, Watford Road, Wembley, Middlesex. March 3, 1930, No. 7010. [Classes 12 (ii) and 12 (iii).] Lubricant thrown up from a well 7 in an axle box by a blade 6 secured to the axle 1 is directed by grooves 8 and lateral recesses 10 into an arcuate groove 9 in the closed brass 2, and flows through passages 11 leading obliquely from the ends of the groove 9 and formed solely in the lower part of the brass into the wedge-like space 12 between the said lower part and the journal.
