Abstract

419,418. Two- and four-stroke cycle engines. SILVESTRI, B., 28, Viale Monte Nero, Milan, Italy. May 14, 1934, No. 14495. [Class 7(ii).] Oppositely moving pistons 5, connected to the crank shaft 4 by outside linkages, compress air within the chamber 2. The valve 7 is opened permitting air to pass to a reservoir 14, and the valve 8 then opened permitting air from the reservoir, mixed with fuel from the device 15, to charge the combustion chamber 3. Ignition is effected by the plug 12 and the cylindrical valve 10 lifted allowing the products of combustion to expand into the air in chamber 2. As the pistons 5 uncover the exhaust ports 13, the inlet valve 11 opens recharging both chambers with air.
