Abstract
417,495. Pasteurizing beer &c. BERGEDORFER EISENWERK AKT.-GES. ASTRA - WERKE, Astrawerke, Bergedorf, Hamburg, Germany. Jan. 10, 1934, Nos. 1010 and 1011. Convention dates, Jan. 10, 1933 and Feb. 1, 1933. [Class 49.] In a plant for pasteurizing in continuous flow in a closed system liquids containing absorbed gases, pressure regulators are provided in the communicating pipes to maintain in the heating stages pressures at least as high as the saturation pressure corresponding to the temperature attained. Liquid such as beer is forced by a pump e into a coil g of a heat exchanger a and thence by a pipe h to a coil i of a heater b where the highest temperature is reached. The liquid is then cooled by returning it through a pipe k to the heat exchanger a whence it passes through a pipe l to a coil m of a precooler c and finally to a coil o of a chilling cooler d. An adjustable pressure regulator r is provided in the pipe l to maintain the two heating stages at the requisite pressure. De-aerators s may be installed at suitable points in the system. The heater may be provided with holding cells, either by installing separate units or by increasing the volume of the pipe k.
