Abstract
920,456. Apparatus for heating air and water. VENTILATORVERKEN A.B. June 28, 1960 [July 18, 1959], No. 22646/60. Class 64 (1). In an apparatus for heating air and water simultaneously, main water in a tank 4 is heated (e.g. by a coil 5) by other water circulating in a closed system and taking heat from a combustion unit 9, 23 also used to heat the air, the closed system also including a section (e.g. a coil 12) located in a cold air zone of the apparatus and adapted to be cut into and out of the system by a valve 14 operated in dependence of the water temperature in the tank 4. The closed system which may operate under either natural or forced flow, may also include a coil 26 which is in heat exchange with the air flowing through passages 19 formed around the combustion chamber 9 and flue tubes 32. Cold air enters the passages 19 through inlets 27 and heated air is discharged through outlets 28. The heat source may be controlled by a thermostat 29 in the stream of heated air, and by thermostats 30, 31 in the closed water system. A thermostat 37 actuates the valve 14 to apply the cooling effect of the coil 12 to the system as determined by the temperature of the water in the tank 4. In a further form described the water jacket completely surrounds the combustion chamber.
