Abstract

1,065,662. Thermal storage space heaters. WITTE HEIZTECHNIK G.m.b.H. April 13, 1964 [April 27, 1963], No. 15253/64. Heading F4U. An electrical thermal storage space heater comprises an upwardly directed conduit 6 outside the core 3 but within its region of thermal influence communicating at both ends with the surrounding atmosphere and containing a thermo-sensitive element of a thermostat which controls the heater output. In the embodiment the thermostat 10 is disposed within the lower part of the conduit 6 and its response temperature is set by manual switch 12 through a chain or cord 11 or a shaft (13) and bevel gears (15). Air from the inlet 5 and distributing chamber 4 is passed through the core by a fan. The small amount of heat reaching the conduit 6 from the core causes a convection air flow from inlet 9 through the conduit 6 and over the thermostat 10 to the outlet 8, the thermostat controlling the fan. The thermostat may be protected from direct heating from the core by a shield, e.g. by a baffle on the side facing the storage core or by a tubular baffle.
