Abstract

910,109. Electric storage heaters. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Jan. 27, 1960 [Jan. 30, 1959], No. 3379/59. Class 64 (2). In a storage heater comprising closed casing 1 lagged on its inner surface with insulating material 2, the heat storage material is partly in heat transfer relationship with the casing and is heated by heating element 4; the heatstorage material being so arranged that an incoming air stream driven by fan 5 passes through at least two ducts, in one of these (duct 7) the air is in good thermal contact with the material 3, and in the other (duct 8) the air stream is substantially unheated, the ducts being so disposed that the two air streams mix prior to passing out through louvred outlet 6. The relative flow of the two air streams, and hence the temperature of the outlet air, is governed by means of valve 10 which is controlled through linkage 12 by a helical bimetallic temperature sensitive coil 11. In operation, space heating is effected by means of the air stream and by direct radiation of heat from the casing 1. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 693,961.
