Abstract

1,022,546. Electric thermal storage heaters. REVO ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. July 31, 1964 [Aug. 2, 1963], No. 30696/63. Heading F4U. In an electric thermal storage space heater comprising a quantity of heat storage material 4 heated by electrical elements and enclosed in an outer casing 3 which is lined with lagging 5 but spaced away from the heat storage material 4 to form a duct or ducts 6, the lower part of the casing 3 is provided with an inlet chamber 7 and an outlet chamber 8 with which the two ends of the duct respectively communicate. These chambers are separated by a wall 9 which has a plurality of apertures formed in it on which is slidably mounted a regulator plate 10 which has a similar plurality of apertures formed in it and which is movable by a bimetallic strip 11 in the outlet chamber. When the temperature in the outlet chamber 8 is high the apertures in the movable plate 10 are aligned with the apertures in the wall 9 and allows cool air from the fan 12 to by-pass the duct 6 and reduce the outlet temperature. When the outlet temperature is low the apertures in the wall 9 are covered by the plate 10 and hot air from the duct 6 flows into the outlet chamber 8. By means of this regulating device the outlet temperature is kept sensibly constant. Mounted in the outlet chamber 8 is a temperature sensitive device 15 in the form of a switch which is arranged to open at a pre-determined temperature and de-energize the fan motor.
