1,048,470. Electric storage heaters; combined with electric fires. BAUKNECHT-GEA ELEKTROTECHNISCHE FABRIKEN G.m.b.H.- April 9, 1964 [April 10, 1983; May 11, 1963], No. 14651/64. Headings F4U and F4W. A space heater comprises a heat storage block 4 with embedded electric heating elements and mounted in an insulated casing 6, a passage 10, 11, 12 being formed between the block and the casing and the front being formed of heat storing stone plates 13. Vertical air passages are formed at 11a through the block 4 so that air circulates by convection when a thermostatic valve 15 is open. An electric heater in parallel with the heating elements in the heat storage block is arranged adjacent the thermostat controlling the valve 15 so as to close the valve during the heating-up period. The thermostat may comprise a bellows or a coiled bimetallic strip. The hot air may draw in cold air from the room through an additional duct 105, Fig. 10 (not shown). An electric heater 42 may be provided on the front 13.
