Abstract
898,421. Heat-storing apparatus. PARKINSON COWAN Ltd. Jan. 31, 1961 [March 25, 1960], No. 10598/60. Class 64(2) The heat withdrawal from a thermal storage mass 1 is kept constant by increasing the rate of movement of air or other heat exchange medium circulated thereover by a fan or pump as the temperature of the mass falls. As shown the motor 8 of fan 7 is in series with a resistance 9 embedded in the mass 1 and having a high positive thermal coefficient of resistance. The medium may be air or a liquid circulated by a pump in a closed system. The motor may be energized only when heat is required by the space being heated. A shortcircuit switch may be provided for resistance 9 to allow full heating irrespective of the temperature of mass 1.
