In a stove in which air is blown by a fan 2 through passages 3, 4 in electrically-heated blocks 1 of heat storing material, leading to an outlet 5 for the heated air, an additional electric heating element 6 is provided in the air outlet 5, and the element 6 is wired so that it may be switched on independently of the storage core elements, but can only be switched on when the fan 2 is running. Preferably the element 6 is arranged to be readily interchangeable by means of a plug-and-socket connection 7.
