Abstract

1,166,453. Unit air heating apparatus. MYSON HEAT EXCHANGERS Ltd. 29 Sept., 1966 [29 Sept., 1965], No. 41406/65. Heading F4V. A space heater adapted to form part of a central heating system comprises twin cross flow fans 24 driven by a central motor 25 which blow air upwardly over heat exchange tubes 28, 30 into the room to be heated, the fans being controlled by a thermostat 44 such that the fans are cut off at a preselected temperature and heating continues only by convection. A second thermostat 31 switches on an electric heating element 40 if the temperature of the water in the heat exchange tubes 28, 30 falls below a preselected minimum value. Air entering the heater through a grille 20 is first filtered by a fine nylon screen filter (21, Fig. 3) above the grille. The crosssection of the air flow duct above the fans 24 increases due to the disposition of a baffle 36. An additional fan (not shown) may be included, driven by a second electric motor.
