[Also in Division H5] In a space heater unit, a fan and an assembly of electric heating elements are arranged sideby-side behind a perforated or apertured panel forming an outlet for the heated air and deflector means divide the air drawn in by the fan into a separate flow path for each heating element. In the unit shown, air is drawn by a centrifugal fan 3, Fig. 1, through louvres in the front panel, humidified or deodorized by liquid drawn by wick 45 from container 42, and directed by baffles 28 of progressively increasing length over three banks of electric heating coils 15 separated by curved deflector plates 24, 25, 26, Fig. 2, the air being discharged through further front panel louvres 2. The unit may be mounted in a recess in a wall and at least part of the air may be drawn from an external source into the back of the casing. The helical coils 15 are stretched between ceramic plates 16, 17 and supported by intermediate plates 20-22. These plates are carried on rods 18 and spaced by the plates 24-26, the whole assembly being clamped together by compression springs 23. A switch (not shown) provides for two heat outputs and corresponding fan speeds, and a thermostat 30 operates a cut-out when a pre-set temperature is reached. The unit includes also a thermal overload cut-out 34, ballast resistance 36 and neon light 35 to indicate when the heater is operative. A member of heater units, e.g. in different rooms of a house, may be operated from a central control.
