Abstract

1283532 Unit space heaters WILKINS & MITCHELL Ltd 12 Nov 1969 [12 Nov 1968] 53548/68 Heading F4V A unit air heater comprises a heat exchanger 10 and a casing defining air passages 13, 14, a fan 17, air outlets 24, 25, a pivoted member 15 which is spaced from the end of the heat exchanger 10 to form therewith a third passage 16 between the outlets 24, 25 and pivoted flaps 26, 27 which in their open and closed positions respectively direct air flow from their associated passages through their associated outlets and through the passage 16, the flaps and member 15 being linked so that in one position of the member 15 the flap 26 is open and flap 27 closed (as shown), in another the flap 26 is closed and flap 27 open and in an intermediate position both flaps are open. The flaps are spring urged to their open positions. The heat exchanger is heated by a gas burner, electrically or by a liquid. The outlet 25 may communicate with an adjacent space to that served by outlet 24. Two air inlets may be provided, one communicating with the adjacent space and the inlets may be controlled by flaps linked to member 15.
