Abstract
970,504. Heating and cooling ovens by circulation of fluids. T. & T. VICARS Ltd. June 11, 1963 [June 13, 1962], No. 22632/62. Headings F4H and F4U. [Also in Division A2] In apparatus for circulating a gaseous medium, such as products of combustion, steam and hot or cold air either upwardly, Fig. 1, or downwardly, Fig. 3, through the baking or cooling chamber 10 of an oven, a duct 12 provided with inlet ports 36 and 38 is connected, by trunking 16 to the suction side of a fan 14 which, on its delivery side, is connected, by trunking 18, to an annular passage 20 disposed around the duct 12. One side 22 of the annular passage develops into trunking 24 terminating in a perforated portion 30 in the lower part of the chamber 10, and the other side 26 develops into trunking 28 terminating in a perforated portion 32 in the upper part of the said chamber. A damper provided with two wings 40 and 42 is turnably mounted on a spindle 44 in the passage 20 near its junction with the trunking 18 so that, when the damper is in the position shown in Fig. 1, the flow of the gaseous medium (indicated by the arrows) is in the opposite direction to the flow when ,the damper is in the position shown in Fig. 3.
