Abstract

1,037,233. Automatic temperature control. NATIONAL PLASTICS Ltd. May 21,1963 [May 22, 1962], No.19609/62. Heading G3R. [Also in Division F4] The temperature of circulating water, e.g. for heat transfer in a plastics mould, is rapidly brought to an operating range by steam passed through or around it and then kept within the range by a thermostatically controlled electric heater. Should its temperature rise above an upper limit the thermostat operates a valve to replace some of the water from a cool supply. As shown, the water in a tank 1 is initially heated by steam in a jacket 8 and is circulated by a motor driven pump 4. The tank is connected either to cold water mains or a cooler by an inlet 6 and has an outlet 7 in which is a solenoid operated valve 14 controlled by a regulator 12, which also controls the electric heater 11, in response to a temperature sensitive element 13 in the return flow pipe.
