Abstract
417,138. Lubricating-pumps. TECALEMIT, Ltd., and CHALMERS, R. A., Great West Road, Brentford, Middlesex. May 1, 1933, No. 12658. [Class 102 (i).] In a multi-cylinder lubricating-pump the discharge from one of the pump cylinders is utilized for operating an auxiliary pump 13, which supplies the suction chamber of the main pump. The pump 13 comprises a motor cylinder 14 and a pump cylinder 15. The cylinder 14 is supplied with lubricant by a pipe 4, with check valve 45, under the control of a distributing valve 27. The pump cylinder draws through a filter 25 and valve 23 and discharges through a pipe 9. The pump piston 17 and the motor piston 16 are connected by a rod 18, which carries a cross-head 20, operating the valve rod 28 through springs 33, 34 adjustable by nuts 29, 30. The valve 27 is formed with two grooves 39, 40, which are engaged by spring-pressed balls to hold the valve either in the admission, or the exhaust position. In the position shown lubricant passes from the pipe 4 through a groove 43 and passage 44 to the cylinder 14. When the valve is moved to the left the cylinder 14 exhausts through radial and axial passages 42, 41 in the valve, and the suction stroke of the pump is effected by a spring 21.
