Abstract
343,942. Compound compressors. SAMA SOC. ANON. DES MOTEURS D'AVIATION, 2, Rue St. Pierre, Lausanne, Switzerland. Aug. 21, 1929, No. 25454. Convention date, June 28. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 8 (i).] In an aircraft engine air is supplied to the engine by six groups of two-stage piston pumps ; each group comprises two low pressure cylinders 31, 41 and a single high pressure cylinder 5<1>. The low pressure cylinders deliver to a reservoir 6, from which the high pressure cylinders draw to deliver to a second reservoir 7 within the first. The pump plungers of each group are on a common rod 2, which carries a roller 15 or slipper riding over a rotating cam, the rollers &c. being held up to the cam and the outstrokes being effected by springs 14 surrounding a part of each rod. The air pumps are cooled by attached spaced ribs and the power cylinder by air circulation.
